Archives For Movies
The past two weeks I have been back in rare form, as far as my movie watching goes. Here’s the rundown.
Taken – 9 out of 10 stars
Action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. Pretty graphic content though. Scared Kristi at the idea of being taken and the what they did with them after they were taken.
Fireproof – 8 out of 10 stars
What a great movie for those married or ever wanting to be married. Sure the acting wasn’t top notch, but the message was. Inspired me as a married man to be a better husband. I recommend this movie for everyone.
Thank You For Smoking – 6 out of 10 stars
Interesting movie, but I wanted the ending to be different. I wanted them to take a more direct jab at tobacco companies, but they did not. Still a decent watch though. Cool opening scene.
I Love You Man – 7 out of 10 stars
Funny, funny movie.
Slumdog Millionare – 8 out of 10 stars
I think I missed all the hype. Good movie. I just don’t think it was Best Movie of the Year.
Madagascar 2 – 6 out of 10 stars
Cute animated film. Better the first.
Bedtime Stories – 7 out of 10 stars
I was really surprised that I actually liked this movie. Adam Sandler was good and Russell Brand did not annoy me.
Jumper – 4 out of 10 stars
Not as bad as what everyone said, but Hayden Christensen doesn’t need to make movies anymore. His voice ruins everything.

Stranger than Fiction – 9 out of 10 stars
I really enjoyed this film. Maybe one of my favorite Will Ferrel movies, and it’s not even a comedy. Story and cool motion effects won me over. Check out the opening sequence for the movie.

Body of Lies – 8 out of 10 stars
Now that Titanic is like twelve years old, it’s easier to say this. I will watch anything with Leonardo DiCaprio. He has proved himself to be an amazing actor, and Body of Lies reiterates his talent. Good movie, especially if you enjoy similar Middle Eastern warfare movies such as The Kingdom (one of my all-time favorite opening sequences) and Traitor.

This week’s movie is
Righteous Kill 6 out of 10 stars
I think the star power of De Niro and Pacino stole the show, but the movie kinda dragged on. Pretty unique build up story, but not a unique enough ending.

The Dark Knight 10 out of 10

I went to see this great movie, my favorite of all time, at the IMAX again. It’s amazing, and if you haven’t seen it yet please do yourself a favor and snag a copy from someone.
Rock n Rolla 8 out of 10
Story wins here. It does help when you have witty British humor too.
Bangkok Dangerous 5 out of 10
Okay action movie. Not a lot to be enticed by though.

Okay, so I watch a lot of movies. I used to update, on the sidebar to your right, the most recent movies I had seen. But I watch so many that I cannot continue updating three to four times a week. So, I have decided to focus on the best movie I have seen from the previous week.
I am going to rate them a bit differently than from the past. I used to use stars ★★★★☆, but now I will use numbers to rate; out of 10. 1 being bad and 10 being the best.
No Reservations 7 out of 10
Cute movie, a bit predictable, but what should I expect from a chick-flick. Over all it leaves you feeling good after watching. Catherine Zeta-Jones is beautiful, Aaron Eckhart is different from when he was Two-Face in the Dark Knight (good different), and Abigail Breslin is her usual quirky self.
Also this week:
My Best Friend’s Girl 5 out of 10
Too much cussing. Some funny parts, but not worth another watch.

I watched some of the 30 Unforgettable Movie Ttitle Sequences from Smashing Magazine today. All of them were really good.
Here were my two favorites:
Is it obvious I love After Effects?
