Design Obsession of the Week

2009 ReBrand 100 Global Awards

Most of these are not going to blow your socks off, but it is nice to see the new designs compared to the old. Here are some that caught my eye.

Disposing of waste

While cleaning the apartment Sunday afternoon, as Kristi napped on the couch, I began thinking of how much stuff gets thrown away during the cleaning process. Then it reminded me of how I changed my life and threw away the junk in my life to follow Christ.

Then I began thinking of my life/walk with Christ now. How I still need to remove some junk in my life to follow Him even more.

As I cleaned the apartment I began looking at the items I threw away. Junk mail, empty bottles of body wash, and dated food products. So I thought of the small things I needed to remove from my everyday life that hinder my walk with Christ. Such as: the massive amount of time vegging watching TV, loitering on the internet, and neglecting time with Christ. Consider all those items reduced (in the trash) from now on.

Until the next cleaning.

Other thoughts while cleaning: Is the Christ you are displaying for the world to see, the Christ of the Bible?

Movie of the Week

Stranger than Fiction – 9 out of 10 stars

I really enjoyed this film. Maybe one of my favorite Will Ferrel movies, and it’s not even a comedy. Story and cool motion effects won me over. Check out the opening sequence for the movie.

Whitmore Wedding

Today I am heading to Fayetteville, Tennessee for the day before my sister-in-law’s wedding. I will be performing the wedding as one of the ministers, which will be my third wedding to minister. This one is pretty special because I am able to marry two people I am very close with and are family. Congratulations Katie and Brett. I love you two very much.

Go visit their website, Whitmore Wedding, designed by yours truly.

I am really diggin’ this font right now. I recently found it in HOW Magazine and am pretty much using it as some much needed inspiration.

Movie of the Week

Body of Lies – 8 out of 10 stars

Now that Titanic is like twelve years old, it’s easier to say this. I will watch anything with Leonardo DiCaprio. He has proved himself to be an amazing actor, and Body of Lies reiterates his talent. Good movie, especially if you enjoy similar Middle Eastern warfare movies such as The Kingdom (one of my all-time favorite opening sequences) and Traitor.

WordPress Challenge Completed

In December of last year @human3rror hosted a party…an online party. It was a WordPress 2.7 Release party.

To partake in the party you needed to complete 3 criteria. First was download WP 2.7, second was to tell why you love WordPress, and third was to challenge a non-WordPress user to convert. You know blogging platform evangelism as some would call it (no one calls it that).

I completed the needed items and challenged my boss, Jason. He was using TypePad and needed some WordPress love. Little did I know he would actually take me up on my challenge. Plus he convinced his wife to switch from Blogger.

Both of them are now using WordPress.

Glad you guys have switched, we will be updating the looks to your sites very soon.

So all in all, if you haven’t thought of switching to the best blog platform, consider the possibilities. And Human3rror I am calling you out. Your challengee Whittaker Woman hasn’t switched yet.

Will you marry me?

Exactly two years ago from yesterday I got down on one knee, with my heart racing, and asked my wife to marry me.

Her response… “Are you serious? Are you serious?” It was a positive are you serious, gladly.

While I never actually had a class with Kyle, I knew about him and his amazing design abilities. Only a few brief conversations were had before spending hours collaborating on the LifePoint logo. Kyle is about to Graduate from Middle Tennessee State University with his degree in Graphic Design. He is a wonderfully blessed designer and he loves God. Great guy.
